2022 is an exciting year for Range Rover fans. The car manufacturer is rolling out a solid treat for loyalists: the Range Rover 2022 reveal. Power-packed with new and savvy technology, while staying close to its roots and classically iconic design, this luxury SUV is bound to be a head-turner with its elegant design.
Launching in the spring of 2022, the car will be offered with a third row in the long-wheelbase configuration for the first time; some other things are with fully electric and plug-in hybrid versions of the car to follow. To top all this exciting news off, an SV edition has also been announced promising an elevated upscale treatment from the company’s Special Vehicle Operations faction.
In a Nutshell
The pricing starts at a whopping £94,400 and goes up to £131,900. You can rest assured that you will get the royal treatment. The sleek, smooth-sided model stands apart from the previous generations. The exterior and interior of the car have become much more minimalist, but this does not mean that the car skimps on performance features, convenience, and last, but not least, comfort. Instead of the V6 and V8 diesel engines, this luxury vehicle comes with a 3.0-litre straight-six unit that features 48V mild-hybrid tech. Replacing the diesels, the new Ingenium unit is expected to be smoother and capable of significantly higher performance than the V8.
The car, which has been called the company’s Porsche 911, is expected to go head to head with a wide range of competitors, including, but not limited to Bentley’s Bentayga, Aston Martin DBX, as well as the choice cars from Rolls Royce and the underdog MK4s.

Let’s take an in-depth look at the features of the car.
This car is unmistakably a Range Rover - but elevated. The new model has a smooth-side body which creates a restrained effect, making the car appear much more modern. Moreover, the design theme is reflective of the Defender. The car appears sleek and smooth, much like a concept vehicle, decked out with a cherry-topping trim, chrome and edges. This is further elevated with the savvy design element of a line under the clamshell hood which traces the body of the car.
The car has a wider air intake under a rather small grille to carry out operations below the bumper. And as is the case with all Range Rovers, the rear is a split liftgate, with a short flow-down tailgate. The 21-inch wheels aren’t new, but the huge 23-inch wheels available for each corner are. Overall, the body is 50% stiffer, which is expected to aid in lowering vibration and noise by large margins and also enhance suspension tuning.
Apart from the standard model, the SV model of this vehicle will be set apart with the use of a Corinthian bronze roof, Corinthian bronze trims on the front and back as well as a unique design of the lower and upper grilles. The Range Rover 2022 will be offered in standard and long-wheelbase configurations, offering seating for 4, 5, or 7 passengers.
Opulent. Luxurious. Minimalist. Modernist. Those are the words we would use to describe the Range Rover 2022’s interior. It appears to be minimalist, but it offers so much more than what meets the eye.
First up is the 13.7-inch curved instrument display which the driver looks at, and in the middle is the 13.1-inch screen that seemingly floats in front of the dashboard. Offering an intuitive and easy-to-use interface, the console boasts the latest multimedia from the car manufacturer, known as the Pivi Pro. With one more ace up its sleeve, the screen provides haptic feedback, tapping into sensory output.
You can also hear your music or your calls much better. This car features an upscale audio system that uses microphones in each wheel arch to create white noise to cancel out the unwanted sound that is broadcasted from speakers into the headrests. The infotainment system is Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatible, and it comes with built-in Amazon Alexa controls. The car features an advanced and personalized satellite radio experience with the new SiriusXM with 360L and on-demand audio. In addition, you can choose an optional system for your rear passengers to keep them entertained. One last cherry on top is the power assist doors which are operated from the center console, it also thankfully detects hazards and avoids snagging skin and fingers when the doors open and close.
The all-wheel drive is standard on all Range Rovers. The main engine of the Range Rover 2022 model has dropped diesel to go for mild-hybrid tech. The V6 and V8 engines have been replaced with a new Ingenium engine, which is designed in-house and is available in two versions: the D300, with 296bhp and 479lb ft and D350, which increases performance to 345bhp and 516lb ft. The switch from diesel to Ingenium will significantly produce more output than the previous V8, with a capacity of up to 33.0mpg on the WLTP cycle along with a 0.7sec improvement of 0-62 mph time.
The car manufacturer plans to expand further in 2023 by offering a 434 horsepower plug-in hybrid that has a 62-mile electric-only range. This one will give other plug-ins a run for their money.
Additionally, the driver can customize the settings, in water or on land. For example, if the car is in water, it can use sonar and hike up to 3ft depths to ensure you don’t go any deeper. The Range Rover also offers aiding maneuverability at low speed which is excellent for stability and turning circles.
The car has standard safety features, like forward collision warning, lane-keeping assistance, traffic sign recognition, parking obstruction warnings, blind-spot warning and automatic emergency braking when a cyclist or pedestrian is detected on the road. There are some other things that are noteworthy, however, like a 360-degree camera in the car that has a night mode to heighten visibility after dark - helpful when you are parking in low light conditions. Also, the car has remote parking via a phone app, enabling parking in narrower spots which often is a concern for SUVs.
